Here in Dane County, there are 25+ organizations offering different types of professional care to survivors. All of them operate independently.

Complex Bureaucratic Systems

The health, justice, and school systems are notoriously confusing, even in the best of circumstances. Oftentimes, survivors are navigating all three at the same time.

The Brain In Trauma

Trauma can physiologically impact how a person processes information, remembers things, and makes decisions.

When a person can’t access the care they need after an unwanted sexual encounter, they are at a higher risk of issues like:

Performance problems at work or school
Certain health conditions such as high blood pressure, obesity, addiction, insomnia, depression, anxiety, or eating disorders.
Relationship issues with loved ones
Revictimization
Intimacy challenges

We gather the information— sharing up-to-date resources and guides on your local options to help you make decisions.
We connect a network of service providers— partnering with local organizations and agencies that specialize in post-assault care to provide their services directly to you through your DaneMAP profile.
We leverage technology— incorporating trauma-informed features that make it safe, convenient for you to use.
We listen to you— restoring control to you, as the expert in what you’ve been through and what you need.

When you create a DaneMAP account, you get 24/7 access to all its features for free. You’re in control of how you use your MAP.

How It Works

Step 1: Create your account—you’ll be asked a series of questions to make sure you qualify for free DaneMAP access and to set up your authentication prompts.
Step 2: Verify your account—check your inbox or phone for the magic link to finish the set-up process. (Don’t forget to check spam if you don’t see an email from us!)
Step 3: Personalize your account—enter demographics if you’re comfortable with that.
Step 4: Start exploring—take as much or as little time as you want to decide what, if any, DaneMAP options could be useful to you in this moment. Keep in mind, you can always come back. Or not. There’s no right or wrong direction.
Step 5: Return to your account whenever you need it. It’ll be here.

Who can use DaneMAP?

All college students in Dane County, Wisconsin

How much does it cost?

DaneMAP is free to all college students in Dane County Wisconsin.

I graduated. Do I still have access to DaneMAP?

DaneMAP will allow access as long as your account was created when you were a student. You must have access to the email or cell phone for the verification.

Can I edit or delete my account?

Yes, you can edit your account at any time. You can also delete your account.

Do we have plans to expand?

DaneMAP plans to add more service providers and expand access to non-student survivors in our community.

Who has access to my data, records, and stuff I write or upload?

DaneMAP does not send anything to the police or college you attend. DaneMAP can not see your incident details or records without you providing us access. Everything you input is secure and private until if and when you grant a service provider permission to access your information.
